Our History

Lilly’s Learning Pad was established in 2013 when I found out that I was Pregnant with my 4th child and I was at the time working as a Radiology Technician in New Kent Virginia. I did not want my unborn child to be exposed to scattered radiation and I also knew daycare for four children would be more than my mortgage. So, I decided to keep a few children in my home as I stayed home with my infant daughter. We started out with the name Lilly’s Leading Learning Stars and then shortened the name in 2015 to Lilly’s learning Pad because let’s admit its way cooler and sometimes less is more.
We have now been operating for 5 years and have decided that It was time to fully pursue my passion to work with children. I then made a conscience decision to go big or go home. So, we looked for a Building and signed our first commercial lease on my Birthday April 2017. The building was a dream come true despite the many challenges we faced the reward was so much greater. We have a total of 4 classrooms one for infants from birth to age 2, one for the 2-3.5 year old’s and one for the (4.- 6 years old) preschoolers. The fourth classrxoom was utilized for after schoolers, drop in care and homeschoolers.

Our Mission

At Lilly’s Learning Pad, we believe in the value and uniqueness of each child we serve. Our childcare experience is designed to promote each child’s own individual social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
As caregivers and educators, our mission is to provide a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment, which fosters a child’s natural desire to explore, discover, create, and become a lifelong learner.

Our Vision

Here at Lilly’s Learning Pad… we believe that a tailored educational experience in early childhood can have a major impact on the educational career of any child!  This is why we strive to be the impact that your little firefly needs to be reminded that we have to let the light within us shine brightly in order to attract great things in our lives and change the world.  However, only under the right conditions will your little one shine and this is why here at Lilly’s Learning Pad we provide an experience from the time your child is enrolled that balances Fun, education, school readiness, exploration, discovery, social-emotional development, nurturing environments, safety, engagement, stimulation, cultural awareness, physical, emotional and cognitive support,  as well as equal opportunity resources no matter the age, stage of development, ability or financial status of the family until the time they graduate and beyond.

Our Philosophy

Our program is built around the concept that children are born ready to learn. As caregivers, we strive to create a learning environment that is safe, stimulating and encouraging. The following serve as the foundation for our curriculum. Children develop knowledge of their world through active interactions with caregivers, peers, materials, and events. Learning is sequential, building on prior understandings and experiences. Learning proceeds at different rates in each area and each child; children will show a range of skills and understandings in any one area of development.
Learning in each area is interconnected. Young children learn best through experiences, which incorporate several areas of development. Learning is embedded in a culture. Children learn best when their learning activities are rooted in a familiar cultural context. Learning begins in the family, continues in early care and education settings, and depends on parent involvement and caregiver guidance.

Philosophy & Goals

Here at Lilly’s Learning Pad- Jackson Ward Campus. our philosophy is when children are provided with a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate atmosphere that encourages learning through play, discovery and exploration they will reach their full potential.
